Medical Update on Kaden

Last Friday we had our 2nd swallow test. We were hoping that we would be able to stop the thickened liquids. Kaden started the test on thin liquids and was doing great until about 3 oz in and he started aspirating again. They stopped the test and then tried a slightly thickened liquid, again he aspirated. So we are still at the same place we were on thickened liquids. Our ENT seems hopefully that Kaden will start to swallow properly but it could a year or so. However we did get the go ahead to start Kaden on a sippy cup instead of a bottle. He loves the sippy cup! He can do this no problem by himself. On Tuesday October 7th we have his surgery. Our ENT is going to put a camera down Kaden's throat just to make sure there isn't anything that is causing his swallowing problems. Our ENT felt this was probably not the case but he just wants to check. This is what I am the most nervous about for Kaden's surgery. If they do find something then it would mean another surgery and this time he would have to stay in the hospital. We are asking for your prayers for Tuesday. We are hoping everything goes smoothly with all the surgeries and that nothing is found that would need more surgery. We were very excited to have all doctors scheduled for 1 surgery, so the thought of another surgery gets me down b/c I only wanted to go thru this once. I know that it is out of my control and what we really want is to make sure that Kaden is healthy and all medical problems are fixed. I just hope that this surgery will do that!
