I am that mom!!

Okay so I vowed that I would try not and freak out when Kaden gets his first cold being home and run to the doctor's office, but guess what I did. Last weekend Kaden came down with a runny nose. He also started waking up in the middle of the night which is unusual for him. So on Monday I broke down and called the doctor b/c I was scared that he may also have an ear infection. When we went to the ENT they had seen fluid on his right ear drum and we are going to put tubes in his ears when we have his surgery, that will be another post on the frustrations of getting 3 doctors in the OR for minor surgeries for Kaden but we have been trying to get this scheduled now for over a month! Okay back to the pediatrician, we went in and found out that Kaden did not have an ear infection. However if he is still sick on Friday she wants us to come back in. She also made me feel good b/c she said for Kaden she would also recommend we come in sooner rather than later b/c of his history of getting bronchitis and ear infections. I was so glad I did take him in for my peace of mind. Kaden is still not back to normal so I think we will be back on Friday but we'll see. However he is still the happiest little boy. It's so hard to tell if he feels really bad b/c he is so happy. However tonight he was a little cranky so I'm thinking he may be getting worse. The good thing about going to the doctor is we got an updated weight.... Kaden is now 19.5 lbs!! We are so happy. He has gained 3.5 lbs since we have been home for 2.5 months. The doctor commented about how he is getting his baby thighs! His face has filled out even more too. Also the new word for the week from Kaden is ball. He is finally saying it. He loves balls and we thought for sure he would say this word earlier than what he did just b/c I swear we say it to him like 50 times in a night! Now it's so cute b/c he will carry his ball around and say over and over ball, ball!

I did the same thing with Artem after being home a few weeks. Don't worry about being "that mom", you've earned it and only want the best for Kaden.

Don't worry about going to the doctor. It is so much better to make sure that Kaden is healthy. You have legitimate concerns! I used to worry about this too, but have learned to trust myself about my children. Moms know when their child is sick. You are trying to protect his hearing , so never worry about giving your guy good medical care when you think he needs it.

Every time I click on your blog, that huge grin on Kaden's face gets me! I love that he's still so smiley even though he's sick, what a trooper. You're such a good mama :)

I think erroring on the side of causion is better then waiting and wondering if you are doing the right thing. I am sure that the doctor did not mind at all.

Okay, is there a photo of Kaden anywhere where he isn't smiling from ear to ear and looking like the happiest baby in the world? He just looks like he must giggle his way through life. Every time I look at your blog I just want to pick him up and laugh with him. He is such a DOLL!
