Kaden Home for 3 weeks!!

Last week was a busy week for us. We had Kaden's 1st birthday, (pictures posted in the previous post below!), doctor appointments, and 1 year old pictures. It was a very busy week. Kaden's 1st birthday was wonderful. He had such a good time. He got lots of fun toys, which he is enjoying now! He also got to meet my sister Courtney, brother in law Andy, and his cousin Lexie. It was so much fun seeing him interact with people. He also showed off and said mama many times! I was so proud of him. It was funny he was so tired before the party and my parents had just taken him on a stroller ride while I was finishing up preparing. Well the whole ride he kept on saying mama. When they walked in the door he said mama and put his arms out to me. I almost started crying right then! He was so tired and wanted a nap so I rocked him to sleep.

Kaden also had 2 doctor appointments. One was with his pediatrician to get more eye drops and find out his test results. We found out he did have the Giardia parasite. He is now on antibiotics and seems to be doing better. We have noticed a difference already in his poopy diapers. We also found out that Kaden was 17lbs and 2 oz (he gained 1 lb and 5 oz in 2 weeks!!). We also went to an ENT specialist to check out his cough. We are going to do a swallow tests on June 30th to see if that is actually causing his cough b/c he maybe aspirating when he drinks. I'm not looking forward to this b/c it is at 8am and he can't eat 3 hours before. I am going to have to wake him up at 4am to get food in him otherwise he will probably have a melt down in the car.

Kaden also had his first professional pictures taken. He did so well! He smiled so much. We had lots of good pictures to choose from. We get the pictures back soon and we ordered announcements too. For me this day really was a dream come true. I have always wanted to go and take our child to get pictures and send out announcements to our friends & family. It was so much fun picking everything out. I really can't wait to show people!

With all the good things going on we have also had a few challenges too. We think Kaden is teething (his 1 year molars- not fun). He started to get a fever on Saturday night and it lasted till about Monday morning off and on. He keeps on grabbing his gums too. He has been a little more difficult this week and we aren't sure if it's the teeth or other factors. He is starting to become a picker eater. He is eating only 1/2 the formula in a day that he use too. He also will eat 1 thing on 1 day and then the next day he spits it out. Sweet potatoes are always a guarantee that he will eat that with anything, so we have stocked up! He is also becoming more difficult to go to sleep. This has always been a challenge but now it is worse. He will go down for naps no problem with me rocking him. But at nights he will be asleep from us rocking him and then you put him in the crib and he is wide awake. The past few nights we have let him stay is his crib once he wakes up and he falls back to sleep within 5-10 minutes. I feel horrible b/c I hate leaving him in his room but if we pick him back up he won't go to sleep for hours. If anyone has any advise on this I would love to hear.

We feel really good about Kaden’s adjustment so far. He smiles a lot and is looking at us more. He is also really starting to know who we are. He will follow us or look for us when we leave rooms. It’s so much fun to watch him grow. He has changed so much already. I can already tell we have a potential heart breaker on our hands. He also loves to be the center of attention. One thing he has also learned is to do high 5’s and he is starting to wave but not on queue yet. We love to go in and get him when he wakes up. He is always so happy. He gives you these big smiles. Overall things are going well. I go back to work after the 4th of July. I’m excited to see everyone but I am concerned about leaving him. We are going on Friday for Kaden to meet the daycare lady. I know that having him go to daycare will be hard on me. We are going to try and ease him into daycare so I will be in the office part-time for a few weeks until we feel that he is adjusted to his new schedule.

Check back later this week. I hope to post a slideshow of 1 month pictures! I promise it will be worth it!

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I can offer my empathy. Brighton still will eat a food one day and the next day spit it out. He also went through a phase of waking up as soon as we would lay him in his crib. Sounds like he is just being a one year old! :)
I'm looking forward to the new pics!
